?CYG Consulting & Engineering Supports the Launch of Xinjiang's First New-Type Hybrid Energy Storage Demonstration Project

Recently, the Xinjiang Huadian Hami Yandun New-Type Hybrid Energy Storage Demonstration Project successfully connected to the grid and began operations. As the EPC general contractor, CYG's subsidiary, CYG Consulting and Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CYG Consulting & Engineering), contributed to the successful launch of Xinjiang's first new-type hybrid energy storage demonstration project. This milestone marks a solid step forward for CYG Consulting & Engineering in the new energy sector.

The demonstration project is located in Yizhou District, Hami City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and is led by Huadian Xinjiang Company in collaboration with the Huadian Electric Power Research Institute. The system design and technology research and development were carried out in close partnership with prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beihang University, and North China Electric Power University. Together, they worked on technical breakthroughs and demonstration implementation. The project, relying on the 50 MW photovoltaic/5 MW energy storage facility at Huadian Yamasu, also includes a newly built 4.6 MW shared hybrid energy storage demonstration project. The system integrates three core components: a 2 MW flywheel, a 2 MW super-capacitor, and a 0.6 MW lithium battery, marking the first application of hybrid shared energy storage technology in Xinjiang. The 2 MW double-layer super-capacitor system, as the largest energy storage plant frequency regulation and peak shaving auxiliary service facility in China, highlights significant advancements in China’s energy storage technology.

 

As Xinjiang's first new-type hybrid energy storage project to connect to the grid, its demonstration effect is highly significant. It serves as a model for the development of new energy in Xinjiang and even nationwide. The project not only fills a technological gap but also provides valuable practical experience for the construction of national energy bases and the establishment of new power systems. It plays a crucial role in promoting the low-carbon transformation and high-quality development of Xinjiang’s energy sector.

 

Throughout the project’s implementation, CYG Consulting & Engineering actively responded to national energy policies, adhered to the national and power industry standards, and followed an innovation-driven development strategy.
